Unique Candy Treats
Do you remember the 1980’s? If you do then you probably remember how then President Ronald Reagan introduced the country to a delicious candy treat called Jelly Belly jelly beans. These sweet treats were definitely not your father’s candy. Jelly Belly flavors included never before seen jelly bean flavors like coconut, popcorn and cotton candy.
President Reagan may not have known it at the time, but he helped launch a flavor revolution that changed the way we looked at candy forever. From that moment on, candy producers and consumers no longer felt confined by traditional flavor combinations and really started letting loose. Today we think nothing of pepper or spearmint flavored jelly beans, but back then, these tastes were truly radical.
If you take a walk through a candy shop today, you can see the influence of Jelly Belly in almost every new product. Not only that, the company’s own line of products has expanded dramatically since the Reagan left office.
Whether you’re a fan of Reagan or you just can’t stand the look of him, there’s no denying that he helped launch a flavor revolution whose impact is still reverberating decades after his death. That’s pretty good for a kid from Illinois.
